If the Marvai family buy a new piece of clothing we don\u2019t want it to have trashed the planet in its making. So we occasionally buy products from our own website<\/u><\/a>, and wear our art on our heart (and the rest of the time we go to the op-shop).<\/p>

Who is Marvai?<\/h2>

Marvai is a family-owned business from Aotearoa New Zealand. Husband Rome and wife Meg work together to create graphic art, printed on clothing and merchandise made by Teemill.<\/p>

Marvai works with Teemill<\/h2>

Teemill is a print-on-demand manufacturer that ensures fair conditions for workers, and uses renewable energy to power its factories. Alongside this, Teemill plants a lot of trees, which makes it \u2013 and Marvai \u2013 carbon neutral.<\/p>

How is Marvai style sustainable?<\/h2>

Organic cotton<\/h3>

Every Marvai product is made from organic cotton. Farming organically means letting plants grow naturally, the way nature intended. Instead of using pesticides, planting a variety of crops distracts bugs. The best kind of fertiliser is cow poo, not chemicals. And clean soil means that farmers can grow onions and food in the dry season instead of needing to irrigate water. So instead of creating carbon, these crops absorb it.<\/p>

Plant-based packaging<\/h3>

All Marvai products and packaging are made using natural materials. While it can take hundreds of years for plastic bags to break down, paper biodegrades in weeks. You can pop our paper mailers in the compost when you\u2019re done with them. No waste, no plastic pollution.<\/p>

This reduces the material needed to make a new yarn by using the material we already have.
